I have a studio very close to the Olympic site. In Hackney Wick you are constantly reminded of the Olympics. You can see part of the park almost everywhere here which means that the uncertainty over the future of the spaces in Hackney Wick is never far away.
The image above is a view from the roof of one of the buildings near my studio. An additional block of buildings is to be built soon in place of the car park. The new building does not worry me, it will be a shame to see the space disappear as it has been used for events of some form or another, particularly the Hackney Wicked Festival. The R.I.P seems ominous for the future of artists in Hackney wick post Olympic games.On a brighter note the Hackney Wicked festival will be taking place over the last three days of July this year.
